5G makes Pyeongchang Olympics the most high-tech Games in history

Pyeongchang Olympics —

5G is making the Pyeongchang Olympics more wonderful and offering an immersive experience to spectators. Spectators are not just getting to watch the great performances of athletes in winter sports, but they’re also experiencing the most high-tech Olympic Games in history.

Leading technology companies like Samsung and Intel are demonstrating their technology, including self-driving cars, virtual-reality viewing stations and super-fast video streaming. And, 5G is at the centre point of all these things. Leading mobile operators around the world are working on 5G technology to enable hi-tech applications such as self driving cars, real life VR and lot more.

Vendors like Intel along with South Korean Telco KT Corp. have chosen Pyeongchang Olympics as live testing ground as well as to demonstrate the unlimited capabilities of 5G network technology. These pioneers are leveraging Pyeongchang, a previously little known city of just 44,000 people, as the tech industry’s largest 5G demonstration site.

“We’re getting closer and closer to the athletes,” said Rob Topol, general manager of Intel’s 5G business. “Viewers can control the time, target, even the angle of what they’re viewing.”
